Hispanic Heritage Month 2013 @Macys #HHM13

October is Hispanic Heritage Month, and Macy’s celebrated with a fiesta with Dora The Explorer in the children’s department.  Dora came to say, “Hola” to all her friends at Macy’s Lenox Mall.  The energy was high with excitement from kids waiting to see Dora and take a picture with her.

Dora did not disappoint as she made her grand entrance dancing in to rhythmic Latin music.  The crowd was definitely enjoying these high energy tunes dancing along with her.

Hispanic Heritage Month is a great time to celebrate Hispanic and Latino American heritage, and learn more about how the hispanic culture influences and enriches our nation and world.

The kids enjoyed Story Time with Jackie Edwards who specializes in Latin Story telling, She read the new book “Dora’s Chilly Day”.

Kids also had opportunity to get their faces painted and they designed their own “Backpack, Backpack”.  Devin really enjoyed spending the afternoon with Dora and it seemed like the other children did as well.

It sounds like a fun event for kids to interact with one of their favorite TV characters and learn more about Hispanic culture. Hopefully, such early experiences will assist them in becoming global citizens later in life.
