The season of the year between summer and winter is one of my favorites. Fall is a great time to spend outdoors with your family. The colorful changing leaves always lift my mood it’s such a beautiful image to take in. Also the weather is cooling off but it’s not too cold so you may not even need a jacket. There are so many different things you can do with your family like hang out in the park, visit a pumpkin patch, collect leaves and even roll around in them. There are also lots of community activities, in fact the Fall Festival on Ponce will be taking place soon. It seems like such a fun time with lots to do. I definitely plan on checking it out.
The Festival on Ponce has taken place twice a year since 2011 in the gorgeous Olmsted Linear Park. The park itself was first proposed over 100 years ago in 1893 by its namesake, Frederick Law Olmsted, Sr., one of the nation’s most well known designers of parks and public spaces at the time. His other works include the famous Central Park in New York City, the breathtaking Biltmore Estate in Asheville, and our nation’s Capital Grounds. After a century of constant use, the park began to decline until the Olmsted Linear Park Alliance was established in 1997. Since then, OLPA has worked tirelessly to ensure the park is maintained and preserved for future generations. Olmsted is made of up of six different sections, each just as stunning as the next. When you visit the park during the festival weekend, you’ll see just how beautiful the space is, and how much work has gone into making it a beautiful area for metro Atlanta residents.
The Fall Festival on Ponce is a free two day event taking place October 19th and 20th, and will feature over 125 painters, photographers, sculptors, leather and metalworkers, glass blowers, jewelers and crafters. The Festival will also offer artist demonstrations, live acoustic music, a Street Market, children’s inflatable play area plus a variety of local food trucks. In the middle of the park there is a lovely playground area that kids of all ages love, and a large grassy field that is perfect for kicking back and relaxing in this beautiful fall weather.
