Macy’s Great American Grilling Guru
This past weekend Macy’s Culinary Council hosted a “Sizzle Showdown” in the Macy’s Parking lot at Lenox Square in Atlanta Georgia. They decide to hold this contest in celebration of American heritage. Six finalists competed to become Macy’s Great American Grilling Guru. They were judged by Macy’s Culinary Council Chefs Cat Cora, Marc Forgione and Stephanie Izard.
The finalists really got their grill on. The energy at the event was great and it was very entertaining watching the finalists prepare their dishes on stage. Everything looked and smelled so delicious. From the looks on the judges faces when they were sampling the dishes, everyone one of them tasted delicious too. All the finalist did an amazing job.
The winner, Leah Lyon received a $10,000 check and a trip to Macy’s 4th of July Fireworks in New York City for her Sizzled Stars and Striped Surf-in-Turf Grill. Not bad for an afternoon of grilling! What an honor for Leah, Macy’s is known for such their epic 4th of July event and Fireworks. I just love 4th of July celebrations because I know someone is always going to be throwing down on the grill.
My husband, Amani doesn’t go near the kitchen, but give him a grill, some charcoal, some meat and some fire, and he’ll do some damage. He’s a beast!
My son, Devin loves Amani’s barbecue in fact, when we give him so chicken or ribs he can’t get enough and he’s only Four years old. This kid don’t play. I actually gave him the nickname “Smokey Bones,” because after he’s done eating I can smell that smokey flavor all over him down to his bones.
I wish that Amani had entered Macy’s “Sizzle Showdown.”
Congratulations Leah on being crowned Macy’s Great American Grilling Guru!
