Every new year my friends and I discuss what we are going to do in the new year. Every year I say I want to be more charitable. Charitable in the sense of giving back to my community, not just monetarily but with my personal time through volunteering. I just discovered an organization based here in Atlanta called Cooking Matters that gives you the opportunity to do both.
Cooking Matters empowers families with the skills, knowledge, and confidence to prepare healthy and affordable meals. Involvement with Cooking Matters goes way beyond food donation, you can volunteer to help educate low-income families on how to make the most out of their resources.
Legoland Discovery Center Atlanta has partnered up with Cooking Matters and they are hosting a Thanksgiving Food Drive.
Visitors of Legoland Discovery Center Atlanta are encouraged to show their support by bringing nonperishable items for a food drive that will be held at LEGOLAND Discovery Center Atlanta from November 17-23. By donating canned goods, guests will not only support the Cooking Matters organization, but they will also receive a special $2 discount on walk up admissions.
Preferred items for this holiday food drive include canned vegetables, canned fruit, canned beans, canned lean meat, whole grain rice or pasta, light cooking oils, as well as spices.
